In my recent post I mentioned Knox a tool I used for secure storage of some sensitive files / data. On the Knox’s official website authors mention that the disk images created with Knox can be opened even without Knox being installed, as the Mac standard encryption tools are used by this tool. So if Knox uses standard system tools, than it is possible to have the same security provided by Knox at no costs. An here is how it is done:

According to a law passed by the German parties CDU, CSU and SPD, from 2008 on is possible to trace who has contacted whom via telephone, mobile phone or e-mail for a period of six months. In the case of mobile calls or text messages via mobile phone, the user’s location is also logged. Anonymising services will be prohibited as of 2009.

wiwo.de published another ranking of german universities and technical colleges for the year 2008. The first pleasant point about this ranking is that it reflects graduates from which universities are the most desired among the personnel officers, while the most other rankings just shows which university has got the highest amount on third-party funds, which is actually not directly linked to the quality of studies at those universities. Moreover the most pleasant new for me is that Computer Science at University of Karlsruhe, where I was studying and now writing my final thesis, is rated by stunning 54% of personnel officers as #1
